Evan Green
Could I get some help identifying this fossil specimen? I'm unsure of if it's a rock or bone but considering the contrast of texture and look with any rocks I've found before, I'm leaning towards bone. It was found near a river in middle-Arkansas & is pretty small and hard to discern. Any ideas?
val horn
Bone vs rock is the first question and i do not see bone like texture. I would like to see a trabecular pattern, without that and or a clear articular surface i think it is a rock

Rockwood
I agree that it doesn't look like bone. I'm curious if anyone can explain the texture on the fractured surface though.
Fossildude19
Cropped and brightened: I've seen mudstones with this type of texture before. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
