What shark is this tooth from?

Hi! I’m not very familiar with shark teeth and never found one until this week, but apparently this one is a great find. What shark is this tooth from and how do I preserve it?

Looks like a great white to me (C. carcharias). If you found it at the beach, I would soak it in water for a few days to remove any salt. And, yes, great find!

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.
