Brought my kids to explore a local creek. Found this along the banks. It's a bone.  I'm just unsure from what and the approximate dating.

 

Approximately 2.5 inches.

What is the size of this bone?


My first thought was deer distal phalanx, but the apparent robustness of the bone has me thinking cow.

Not sure it is a fossil, however.
