Nattywoody
Hi all, I found this on Monmouth beach on the Jurassic coast UK. It's about 4cm long and about 1cm diameter. Not sure how best to describe it... it's in one piece it's not separated in bits. It has raised vein line type things across it's surface. I just thought it looked like a poo and more than just a rock. Any thoughts please let me know, thank you.
Rockwood
It seems more likely to be a fossil burrow to me. Fecal mater and bacteria are likely involved in the process that preserves them though.
CrazyRockLady
Yeah I think it's likely burrow also. It's mainly the fact that the ridges on the surface are similar to dig marks. I would additionally look for pic of coprolites and burrows dated to that time period and found at the same place or at a nearby site. Also how frequently these fossil are found.
