Gore Store Fossil ID 08/2022

Hello peeps, heres another expedition log and attempt at ID. let me know if i get any of these wrong or what you think it might be.

Eldredgeops Rana trilobites. all 3 i collected seem to be enrolled, none of them had a head however. can any trilobite expert explain why that is? are they molts? or is this just a quirk of fossilization perhaps.

This one was just sitting at the top of the hill in the shade of some bushes. it looked like it was always there.

This trilo seems to be enrolled as well. i am considering prepping it out if that seems like a good idea although it seems to be fragile. note the small pygidium impression in the top left.

Brachiopods. I think the second one is a spiriferid of some sort.

I guess "idk" means "I don’t know". For information, we are many members whose mother tongue is not English, and the abbreviations are written in capital letters, so IDK, which will facilitate our understanding.

Enrolled specimens can still have heads. I think you may have just gotten unlucky with broken heads. In other species, molts can be ID'd as missing the "cheeks" (librigena I believe), but I am not sure if that applies in this species.

Ecdysis in Eldredgeops occurs at the separation of the cephalon and thorax (their cheeks are “fused”). Trilobites are estimated to have moulted up to 30 times in their lifespan, so moults are far more common than body fossils.

The first one labeled as a crinoid #8 actually looks like a Tentaculites.

14 is a trilobite pygidium.

15 is a thorax of a trilobite.

I know it is hard for some, but we try to avoid 'textese' and spell things out to ease the use of translators by our international membership.  ;)

wow really? the fossil in #8 is rather narrow so my gut went with crinoid stem, but now that you mention, it does seem tapered. I can upload a picture of it without the end piece there would that assist in a positive Identification.

also 14 and 15 were supposed to be in the section with trilobites but somehow, they uploaded out of order.
