Florida vertebrate- what kind?

Hi all,

Found on a Florida beach in Venice, this appears to be a vertebrae of a small animal. Can’t quite tell what animal it might be. Anybody have any ideas?  It’s about half an inch long and a quarter inch wide.

Thanks

Do a google search on "filefish vertebra fossil". Check out the images.

Your 2nd and 3rd photos scream "fish vert"

Yup. Very worn but the amphicoelous ends (both sides concave) indicate fish vertebra.

Cheers.
