Mermaid
Seaview , WA. Found deep in dirt by my dog Cleaned it up and used textured file to get debris from around bone. It’s not an arrowhead. Enjoy Maybe?
Coco
Hi, To begin with, your dog seems very interested in his find, we feel that it is his and not yours ! Then, it is far better to give a size in cm or inch, because the electrical outlets are of different size depending on the country. Coins are often used, but only the inhabitants of the American continent know their size, so this is not a good landmark for an international forum. What you hold in your hands is not a tooth, but a stone. You compare it to a plate of teeth that show enamel, unlike your stone. And finally, your dog lives dangerously ! He isn't afraid to be caught by the crabs ! Fossildude19
The pattern at one end is intriguing to me. I wonder if this isn't a cast or steinkern of a bivalve of some sort? JohnJ
Unfortunately, (seems everyone starts bad news that way) I agree this is not a tooth. General shape, by itself, is a fairly weak identification characteristic. Also, it is not uncommon to find rocks with inclusions of a different hardness. There are probably fossils along that beach; just train your dog to find them. 22 minutes ago, Fossildude19 said: The pattern at one end is intriguing to me. I suspect these are likely 'dremel' marks. 1 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
