ChampagneNBeer
Hi All, My father has this item he said his friend gave him when he was younger. I believe it was found in Russia, in a coal mine. He said it was a fossilized walrus tooth, then tusk - so I am not sure. Story is that was much longer but the miners who found it cut it into these smaller sections (about 5 inches long sections) and each took a piece - and one piece was given to my father as a gift. Thanks! CnB
Shellseeker
It is a section of a Tusk, very likely Walrus.. Because of those longitudinal grooves this tusk section was close to the skull. ChampagneNBeer
Wow - ok, thanks for the quick reply. Is it likely old? Rare? Not asking for what it is worth, just trying to help him not do something he regrets.
Fossildude19
Please check online shops for relative values/rarity. We cannot help you with these questions.
