Hill country Texas fossils ?

Hello ! My name is Anna, I'm new here, I'm hoping someone can assist me with identifying what appears to be large bone ...or...rocks.

They are very white, porous,  and YES I did stick my tongue to one, lol,  it stuck.

I don't normally go around licking rocks, but these are pretty cool looking. i took pics yesterday.

Found on my friends 180 acre hunting ranch, near Concan, Texas.(west of San Antonio, hill country)

Yeah I think they're just rocks too. I can't see any distinct anatomical features you would likely see on such large pieces.

I believe virtually all limestone is in a sense a fossil in that the components (calcium carbonate) were produced through biological processes.

Sorry, but this is also a chunk of limestone.  Central Texas is full of funny shaped limestone and chert nodules.  But on the positive side, it's also packed full of fossils, so re-calibrating what you're looking for can be productive.

The odd angles suggest a more mechanical process created this to me. Crystalline alignment, or desiccation for example.

These rocks are cool...

The dark brown stone is about8" in length. And smoother feel to it than you'd think.

The other looked like a baby deer sleeping, I love it. Even though its a rock lol

It is about 2,5  long

I haven't figured out the brown one though. ,

Though I think they are all products of karst erosion, the last one looks much like a bear to me.

Not sure if I would leave it as is or try to subtly enhance the appearance to make it a sculpture.

Cheers,

J

Still looks like limestone to me.. I think you need to dial your eye in for objects that are of heterogenous material. Eg a shell within limestone. If your deposit is predominantly limestone, fossils will appear that way more often than a large object of homogenous composition.
