JustineArt
Wondering if anyone can give me a clue as to what I've found at Achanarras Quarry in Caithness, Scotland? I'm pretty much a novice so any help is greatly appreciated.
ziggycardon
Texure looks very much like what you would expect from a Placoderm. There are few species present at the Old Red Sandstone like Coccosteus cuspidatus & Microbrachius dicki. 1 Interested in all things paleontology, geology, zoology, evolution, natural history and science! I'll go have a search for these So would this be the same sort of thing? I know I'm being really non-specific by saying I think it looks like a piece of a fish but tbh that's the size of my knowledge!
Mahnmut
The texture in the second specimen isnt as easy to make out in the pics, but possibly yes. Well, Placoderms where fish, so you seem to be right. Although they where not just any old fish, but the really cool extinct kind that many of us on the forum would really like to find... Those who arent as lucky can cope by painting models of its bigger brother Dunkleosteus. Great find!
