alsonjustintine
Help!? This looks like it's a carved figure. It was found in southern California in a very old area known to contain mammoth and ancient American Indian and mezo American finds. Last photos show area where it was dug and the site shows unnatural looking rock outlays. Could it be a Dino!!! Thanks for any insight on this find. I am completely new And hooked regardless. Fossildude19
These all look geologic in origin to me, rather than man made or fossils. The items look like chert nodules that show some differential weathering. Chert nodules can come in all different sorts of funky shapes. The outcrops look like possibly limestone? 4 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." JohnJ
I agree these are not artifacts or "dino" fossils. They do appear to be concretionary limestone features. It also looks like you have used a stiff brush or acid to clean them. The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
alsonjustintine
Yes it has a clay like "filler" around whatever the more solid rock was. It also stuck to my tounge if that matters?

That only indicates that the rock is porous. 1 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
