Again all the bones are from the Hadrosaur Edmontosaurus annectens

First up is a juvenile fibula about 22inches long

Exposed the top

P9230403.thumb.JPG.18552f781113303a3fb76ebf76bd4dd2.JPG

Starting to undercut the bone

P9230404.thumb.JPG.a7cbba735b2280798fe3c3056dfe3e8e.JPG

Its Pedestal to a point to get foil under the bone and let the plaster support it.

P9230408.thumb.JPG.1cc6cf63762ff2f76700298f29c055d0.JPG

Plaster wrapped the bone

P9230410.thumb.JPG.5245781ddc3239993546311978648962.JPG

Used two knives to flip the bone.  Came out perfect

P9230411.thumb.JPG.9cb3a6885e971865a639fa2c6d3b44e2.JPG

Next up is a very large anterior caudal vertebra.   It has two small knubs 1 inch long as the lateral processes.

Discovery - hard to make out what it is, took a while to figure it out

P9230415.thumb.JPG.9e8ffd6ac8a5a299acc38e80af83b68a.JPG

Vertebra is complete with a beautiful neural spine.  Centrum is okay on this side

P9230416.thumb.JPG.5bab93b00f4f2a892424deec0fa96c13.JPG

Since the spine had a clean break, I removed it and put it in foil.  Makes extraction of the Centrum a lot easier and avoids damage to spine

lots of matrix on centrum

P9230418.thumb.JPG.49ec72de99305482ba957650b4fbd069.JPG

Used foil then plaster

P9230419.thumb.JPG.3688097cfef54d7189c985b9e1ec8a6c.JPG

Came out great 100% complete

P9230420.thumb.JPG.790dba53fdf92e968a0714d28bb1f1df.JPG

Next is a nice juvenile sternal plate.  Same extraction process, expose, pedestal, foil wrap then plaster wrap

Exposed and undercut

P9240422.thumb.JPG.a7799539c360c96260be2e172b62a0f1.JPG

Foil wrap

Plaster wrap

P9240424.thumb.JPG.d58de3ddbf89ac11cc1dcc22c14ef52e.JPG

Hard to see put it came out great

P9240425.thumb.JPG.545fade545324262d6dc3c3932dbb4ed.JPG

Not everything found works out.  I exposed this beautiful neural spine just to find out there was no centrum :s_cry:

You found a lot of cool stuff Frank. Do you ever find / search for micro fossils?

Brought home 2 1/2 , 5 gallon buckets of matrix to explore.  Sometimes I'll take home ant hill material but not this trip.

Really nice trip report.  Loved all the pictures.  Looks like its now time for lots of fun cleanup work.

Thanks RB.  Now the fun begins and will do the easy items first...

Quite a successful harvest! Looks like you've got your work cut out for you.

Enjoy it because you never know what you will find, cool discoveries can just be around the corner.  A couple of years ago a simple centrum was full of bite marks.  Diseased bone, predation or bite marks and areas of bone regrowth  can be found.  It was a difficult time for these critters with all these Tyrannosaurs around.
