@debivort it’s porous like most other bone fossils I find. It is pretty dense though. 

Dugong bone is noticeably denser than other fossil bone. Maybe you can post a shot from the end-on?

Hi,

 

I find the striations at the beginning of the video weird for a rib.

@Coco I agree, and the shape is almost perfectly round. I could think of what else it could be besides a rib.  
possible tusk of some sort?

rib that got gnawed on at one point? 
Damage with age?

@old bones interesting? You may be right!

 

Would it be worth a run to a professional? I’m very curious now, but obviously do not want to waste someone’s time with something silly. 

The lines for pulling through a handle on pottery would make sense. And now that I’m looking at it as such the top is broken off where it would have connect to a pot perhaps?
