Dinosaur egg preparation

I purchased this Dinosaur egg and now I want to prep it a little. I don't have an airscribe, is there another way to remove the thin layer of matrix without damaging the eggshell or shell structure?

You dont want to use an air scribe on that anyway, its already had the bulk of matrix removed.  That needs micro air abrasion for detail cleaning.  I dont know of anything that could do the same thing.  Other methods are likely to damage the shell surface..

tried a similar (same size) with brass brush to check if it works, does not... Micro air abrasion works perfekt, or you take a needle, a microskope and some days off. Possible to remove the matrix with fine needles

I have also cleaned one with bicarb in the ole sandblaster.  Worked well, but every specimen is different.  The one I did was not one of these big round ones.

Without an air abrasion rig, this tedious approach may be an option...
