KimDeLuxe
Hi All! I am a newbie & amateur, making my very first post. I picked this up whilst searching for sharks teeth along the beach. I am a very curious being and this is just a mystery to me. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks again!!!
Meganeura
Unfortunately that doesn't look like one to me! 3 Fossils? I dig it.
KimDeLuxe
Thanks for the reply! Now I can stop scouring google lens for similarities. ...onward to scouring the great outdoors!
grandpa
I'm also in the "wishful thinking" camp, but I see where you're coming from. Good eye for finding the shape. BTW, I don't think I've welcomed you to the forum yet. Welcome!
ClearLake
Yes, I'm with the others. While the shape is intriguing, what I notice is the texture looks more like matrix (rock). In your third picture on the right side, you can see what appears to be layering of the rock, which you would expect to see in sedimentary rock, but not necessarily in bone. Also welcome and great job with your first post for an ID: pictures in focus from various angles, location info, and with a scale! Good job! Mahnmut
Hi, sadly, or maybe not, google lens is not good at identifying specific fossils yet. Maybe something iconic like an ammonite in general terms, but s far as I see it, it will always identify anything as the most common (or rather most commonly googled) similar thing. Hello Kim, Welcome to TFF, As Clearlake indicates. Great photos, You may go far... TFF is also a great place for Florida Fossil Hunters and Fossil hobbyists from around the world. My normal hunting areas is Bone Valley and I try to specialize in ear bones. Baleen Whale This one is camel/llama I had to kiss a bunch of rocks to find these ear bones. We have a great depth of (non)artificial intelligence here on the forum and enjoy identifying fossils and, when needed, identifying non-fossils which can be just as important while learning. Cheers. -Ken
