I found a mineral/fossil store out in CT over near the casino.. I stopped in and looked around and picked up this trilobite for $12.00

He's about 1" long by about half inch wide. The matrix is about 3" or so long, 2" wide.. I thought he looked really cool and at $12. I couldn't pass him up.

There was no information about it though. Does anyone know where it might have came from and what type it might be? Any info is appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Yep it is a Proetid called Gerastos granulosus.

It's probably from the Devonian Hamar Lagdad Formation found in the Djebel Issoumour, Alnif region of Morocco.

It's a pretty common species from Morocco and it used to be known as Proetus sp.

Is $12 an OK price? I feel it was worth it so maybe that's all that matters?! :D
