danco
I would like to know from what fist comes this fossil found in Kansas. It is 5 cm long. Thanks for your help.
Xiphactinus
You've got the wrong end of the fish! That's the first ray of the tail of a large fish.
danco
You've got the wrong end of the fish! That's the first ray of the tail of a large fish. Could you make an educated guess what kind of fish (due to the size, shape and place - Kansas).
Xiphactinus
Could you make an educated guess what kind of fish (due to the size, shape and place - Kansas). It could be one of any of the medium sized fish. It's really impossible to ID for sure without a vertebra attached. If I were making a label, I would ID it as: ray from caudal fin, Ichthyodectes type fish, Upper Cretaceous Niobrara Chalk Fm, W.
