Auspex
Very interesting. The new technologies are amazing, and human trackways are fascinating, but the speculators are out in force on this one. Here's one statement that doesn't add up (my italics): "Very old human occupation of the Americas is possible," he said, "but if there were indeed people here that long ago, what happened to them in the next 25,000 years? In this time, surely the population should have increased, and this would bring the presence of a high quantity of sites 16,000 to 20,000 years old." (Rafael Suárez of the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural y Antropología in Montevideo, Uruguay). Simply an unsupportable statement, and completely speculative. "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease! Maryland Mike
Interesting article. Thanks for posting it. I agree with Auspex. There's just not enough data, i.e. how large was the population, how did they get there, to speculate on whether or the not the population should have increased.
