Hello Maniac,

Hope your doing well and I was wondering if you got a nice Meg tooth for Christmas? Hope you did.

I posted these up on another thread earlier but I'll throw them up there again. My wife got these for me for Xmas! A couple of Ferns from Mazon Creek!

post-7046-0-02634100-1324832961_thumb.jpgThe fish was not identified but I believe it to be 'knightia', eocene age, green river formation, wyoming.

I also got a field fossil guide, rock/gem/mineral field guide and a fossil learning book all to share with the grandkids. These books are simple, informative, great illustrations and easy to read and understand for both me and the grandkids. The large book here is really, really for kids ;) but it's neat too! A new set of dental picks and tools and a three stage rock tumbler for some of mine and the grandkids gem/mineral and rock finds!

Oh yeah, and a jar of Ancient Himalayan Pink Salt! I am a salt connoisseur and this is really tasty salt! :)

I have so many crinoid stems, post-7046-0-98795200-1324875435_thumb.jpg

I was thinking about trying a few in the tumbler just for grins and giggles! Anyone ever polish any stems?

I love Xmas but sure am glad it's over for the year! I will sleep well tonight! :)

Great presents, everyone!! - Thanks for sharing them with us!

For my Christmas present this year, my father-in-law ( a very handy guy!) decided to make me a dinosaur weathervane for my fossil shed. :D He's been saying for years that I need a dino on my fossil shed!

Although it came out incredibly well, it is too heavy to act as a weathervane, so,... it's acting as a figurehead sculpture on the top of my fossil shed. He carved it and assembled it and painted it. Hopefully there are enough layers of varnish on it to keep it in good shape for quite some time.

It''s based on the now famous drawing of Deinonychus antirrhopus by Robert Bakker .

Inspirational pic found HERE.

Needless to say, I am very pleased with my Christmas present from him this year!!

Wow! Great presents! This year I got a really pretty Peruvian mako. It is about 2 1/8 inches long has really nice fiery colors to it. I also got a great 2 7/16 inch meherrin river early auriculatus. It is already very nice but should look even better cleaned up. I love them!

My wife bought me A new camera:

Expect some really close up views of Qatar desert fossils as soon as I have figured out how to use it.

I have been practising on a tiny model of Santa:

He is about 2 cm tall.

Blaine and I do not buy each other gifts. We had made a pact many years ago. We just enjoy Christmas for what it is, family. The kids and grandchildren do get gifts and we are very happy with each other! Blaine tells me since we got married I am a gift that keeps on giving so he does not need a gift(he is such a joker)!
