travismwright
I was at Red Rock looking for fossils. I've picked up millions of rocks, but never one like this! I've been looking at this thing literally for days straight. Every morning I stare at this thing. I'm not sure what this could be. Also, on the other side of the unkown fossil is a crinoid. Let me know if anyone has ever seen anything like this. What is the best x ray or c scan so we can see if this thing has any dimension. Thanks. http://www.flickr.co...N03/6876795600/ http://www.flickr.co...N03/6876795548/ Here is the crinoid: http://www.flickr.co...N03/7022897073/ Edited March 28, 2012 by travismwright
Missourian
It looks like a crinoid stem that has been worn off at an angle. Context is critical.
Ludwigia
Interesting how nowadays anything that can't be understood is put down to alien activity. Back before the scientific renaissance God did it and before that it was left to the nature spirits. You're probably looking at a mineralized fossil remnant. The fuzzy picture at the end makes it almost impossible to recognize a crinoid. I'm not completely convinced that the object from Mars is also one. Could also be part of a Nautiloid. If you could at least say from which stratigraphical stage the rock originates, then it may be possible to narrow things down a bit. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. travismwright
Its fuzzy but it is a crinoid. It may just proove that the dating method and age of these fossils need to be re evaluated. I only use alien because supposably man did not live with dinosaurs. Or did they? I think all these fossils were created from the polar shift or the great flood. glacialerratic
Or did they? I think all these fossils were created from the polar shift or the great flood. Or maybe hurricanes over a very long long period of time, or sea level rise and fall associated with ice ages changing habitat.
the tatter
I am no expert, however I have many eroded crinoid stems in my rocks, yours looks just like a lot of mine. They can look like a lot of different things. Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen, and thinking what nobody has thought. Herb
It's a crinoid stem cut diagonally.
