Hi new member here... trying to ID this bone I found. I actually caught it fishing in the Mississippi river in St. Paul MN.

No idea how old it is or what it came from.

I've got some nice pictures though!

i wondered if it was a skull bit, but I figured with those "wings" coming off of it, it was probably a pelvis.

Any guesses on what animal that could have came from?

Elephant skulls have sinus cavities all over them to lighten the massive weight of the head. Looks a lot like the Mastodon skull section I have.

Definitely skull fragment. Age would be difficult to impossible to determine. Bone in fresh water streams will discolor fairly quickly.
