May be leggs of a crab or hermit

Interesting possibility, however they are present in almost all this type of bivalve I find at my location. They seem to be attached to the bivalve itself???

Nice haul, as always. :)

Shorelines of reservoirs can be quite productive indeed. The variable lake level allows waves to erode the rock at various levels, and when the lake drops, you can walk along and collect whatever has been exposed. I've had a bit of luck finding Ordovician and Mississippian fossils along Truman Lake in Missouri. I think I should return someday....

Context is critical.

I couldnt agree more! The egress ingress of the water makes for a different hunting experience everytime!!! I simply love it!

Good to see you are getting up and about. You found some nice fossils once again. That big bivalve with the "thing" inside it is very, very intriguing.

Awesome finds! Love the gastropods.

Those strange features on the bivalve- maybe he took hinge "teeth" to the next level?

Ok, that was bad... ;)

Well it probably won't I had no idea but thought it looked walrus like, have found a lot of clams in Texas but nothing quite like that, really nice fossil, Forgive me. Glad to see you hunting again, does't the mind good. When hunting limestone you need to take a white dog, they don't show the dirt as bad----Tom Edited by Foshunter

Thanks Erose, it felt great to get out and hunt! I too am intrigued by that "thing" in the bivalve...I cant stop looking at it...might have to get out the DINO scope and take a closer look. Obviously we know its something that burrowed in it after it died..right?
