Sean Sullivan
Hi! Can someone tell me if these shark teeth necklaces that I have are real or fake? Only the big one is cool to the touch. If they are real, what kind of shark are they from?
Coco
Hi, I think the 1st and 2nd pics aren't shark, but a part of a gastropoda (Cypraea or its family). See here : http://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&qscrl=1&rlz=1T4GGNI_frFR526FR527&q=cypraea&ion=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.50310824,d.d2k,pv.xjs.s.en_US.I9e44VIvEiw.O&biw=1280&bih=598&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=OcsCUoGhIK330gWFhYGQBw For the other ones, pics are vague. PRK
Pretty fuzzy pics, but looks like carved shell, and smallish shark tooth

Auspex
Shells with a serrated edge? It is a carving; whether from shell material or something else cannot be told from the pictures. There is, in any case, no shark tooth with this morphology. FossilDAWG
The first one is carved, likely from the lip of a cowrie shell as Coco said. Don Edited August 9, 2013 by FossilDAWG
Sean Sullivan
How do I know the other one (shark tooth, not carved shell) is real?
Auspex
How do I know the other one (shark tooth, not carved shell) is real? With a sharper picture, we could help you out with that one better, though there is hardly any reason to fake a small shark's tooth. Auspex
What kind of shark is if from? Better pictures are needed; the current ones show a blurry, white, stretched-out triangle. FossilMo
I doubt the first necklace is a shark tooth, but the second necklace is probably a shark tooth. I can't tell if it is real or fake though, the pics are fuzzy.
