MLR
Hello everyone, my name is Ben and I've never posted on here before. I stumbled upon this forum when I was looking up some way to identify these couple of teeth that my girlfriend found today while we were at the beach. It was found on a small island in Tampa Bay, if anyone is familiar with the area it is known as Beer Can Island. Anyways, I am curious to know what you all think. Thanks! Shellseeker
1st tooth is a partial Mammoth tooth. 2nd is deer or llama/camel -- Need a picture of the chewing surface to determine which it is. VERY nice finds!!! The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"

bmorefossil
I think you did really well for these being beach finds! I also agree with the identification on the first one. The second tooth we would need a picture of the chewing surface as previously mentioned
rylawz
I'm gonna say the mammoth tooth is from a colombian mammoth, the enamel plates have alot of spacing. Post your Proboscidea!!!!!
MLR
Thank you for you quick responses! Here is a picture of the chewing surface. I hope it is clear enough. We had just anchored and my girlfriend went on shore to start looking for shells and as she was walking around she picked up the mammoth tooth. The second tooth I found in the water along with a couple sharks teeth.
Shellseeker
I think I have it but let me give you a couple of photos to compare. "Harry Pristis" helped me to ID one of my finds in the Florida Peace River about a year ago. If this matches, you have a palaeolama mirifica, Pleistocene camel premolar The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
