cuatroatlatl
This was found in Colorado. Does anyone know what it is? I added a photo edited where I circled the water tubules..which are running vertical. They can also be seen stemming up through the agatized portion. This stuff does not all look the same and is not all cut straight across the top. Agatized Palm is what I thought. Also added another type of Palm wood! thank you Edited November 2, 2013 by cuatroatlatl
Auspex
I don't see the sclerenchyma bundles which are the hallmark of petrified palmwood, or other features to distinguish it as wood at all (concentric grain rings or rays, for example). It looks a bit like a chert nodule, at least from where I'm sitting.
