nala
what's the ID this fern with a not usual shape?
paleoflor
The pinnules are definitely alethopterid. Try and compare the fossil with specimens of Alethopteris lonchitica and Alethopteris decurrens. I am certain it is one of those two species. The fossil represents a part of the frond close to the apex (need to consider this when comparing images). Edit: to me, Alethopteris decurrens seems the by far most likely candidate. paleoflor
I just noticed how "cluttered" Google image-search is (a complete spectrum of different Alethopteris-species show up) Therefore, herewith an image of Alethopteris decurrens as figured by Cleal and Thomas (1994). Note that the shape of the pinnules depends on the position in the (very large) frond - this may explain some discrepancies you will encounter during an image-search.
