NZ_Fossil_Collecta
i have searched all over the internet for guides based on insects in baltic amber that is not a guide to real vs. fake inclusions. i was kind of looking for a guide similar to the one on amberica west that is about dominican amber, i am looking for one like that except baltic. if anyone knows of a website with one of these, please comment with a link, that would be very helpful thanks. I'm CRAZY about amber fossils and just as CRAZY in general.
siteseer
I have seen at least two different ones - both in German. One of the amber collectors will be able to help you more. In fact, if you do search for "baltic" or "amber" within "forums", you may find a thread on amber books or at least a side discussion on them. http://www.amazon.com/Aquatic-Insects-Wasserinsekten-Baltischen-Bernstein/dp/8788757897 You will also want to PM FF member Vermiculosis; i have searched all over the internet for guides based on insects in baltic amber that is not a guide to real vs. fake inclusions. i was kind of looking for a guide similar to the one on amberica west that is about dominican amber, i am looking for one like that except baltic. if anyone knows of a website with one of these, please comment with a link, that would be very helpful thanks. painshill
That one above only covers aquatic insects (as well as being in German). You would be better off with this one, which - although published in Germany - is in English and covers arthropods in general, not just insects: http://www.ambericawest.com/book19.html I don't have it, but it always gets excellent reviews. vermiculosis
Hey. I got somewhere list of useful books. ..hmmm please check this site and "books" - http://www.ambericawest.com/book35.html Personally my best book is "Atlas Of Plants And Animals In Baltic Amber" by Wolfgang Weitschat abd Wilfried Wichard - super atlas and helpful for me. I also really love Aquatics Insects In Baltic Amber. I also got few polish small books but also cool for an amateur. There is somewhere also Fossil Behavior Compendium - nice position but not only about amber inclusions. In future a profesor from polish university need start a new book about amber and who knows - maybe few ambers from me can be on pictures I hope so ! with regards vermi Natural Baltic Ambers With Inclusions
