thair
Some of you may have seen my other post where I had the oportunity to cast some dinosaur tracks here in Brown County, Central Texas. I wanted a display that looked like the original tracts so I recast the tracks and the painted them to resemble rock. I also looked up the possible dinosaur that made them and did a drawing that I could display with the tracks. (Acrocanthosaurus)

snolly50
I am very impressed by your skillful artwork. Auspex
Man, Tully, you are good! Any chance you can teach us the basics of how you did this? squali
WOW If I tried really, really hard I might be able to make the casts. Well done.!! However, if you offered me a million dollars I could not do better than a stickDino Thanks for posting. Definitely interested in your casting technique It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.
lormouth
Impressive! Is it plaster and can you recast the tracks again? http://paleoreplica.wordpress.com/
LordTrilobite
Nice, I really like the detailing on the drawing. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
thair
Impressive! Is it plaster and can you recast the tracks again? Yes it is plaster and I could cast another. These are the first casts I have attempted so I looked up how to do it. I just cleaned the original rock then applied cooking oil to the rock before poring the plaster. I left over night then went out next day to retrieve. After I got home I used cardboard to make a form around the original cast. I then oiled and pored plaster. They were stck together pretty tight even with the oil but I got them apart without breaking. I painted with acrilick paint to resemble rock
Axelorox
Great casts and drawing. However, current thinking is that Acrocanthosaurus' tall neural spines supported a mass of muscle (like in bison) rather than a ridge or sail-like structure. thair
Great casts and drawing. However, current thinking is that Acrocanthosaurus' tall neural spines supported a mass of muscle (like in bison) rather than a ridge or sail-like structure. Guess I should have added more mass to the body structure. I was useing pictures of skelton and other drawings as reference. I did not do enough reading I guess. Still it helps me show my grandkids what kind of dino may have made the tracks. Thanks

thair
I came across my drawing a few days ago and decided to modify it per suggestion of Axeloro. I wanted it to be a more accurate representation if I was going to display with my tracks. Maybe this will be better.
