Dinosaur Bone Id - Hastings Uk

Gideon

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm new to this forum and was hoping someone could help me ID the bone attached.

It was found at Hastings, UK. The rocks here are early cretaceous around 140MYO.

Given the size of it (about 20cm long), the assumption would be Iguanadon? but I can't figure out what part of the animal it could be. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Multiple images taken from a few different angles would assist with ID.

EDIT: Also, I took the liberty of removing the yellow color cast, and improving the contrast and white balance.

I'm not great with computers/cameras/technology! so this is the only other picture I have of it. Shows the under side.

I'll try and get a few more uploaded later.

Many thanks

Gideon,

Glad to help - thought it might bring out some more detail. :)

Unfortunately, I'm not a bone guy, (so I can't be of use for ID) but we do have some dino people on here who might be able to help.

Regards,

Hi Opisthotriton

Thank you so much for the ID. I was way off with my own guess, but can see the coracoid now.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply with my thank you. I thought my original post had been lost in traffic unanswered.

I'll try and get my camera working and get a few more photos up soon, and would love to here your opinion.

Thanks again

Here are a few more angles on it......Its been suggested on pretty good authority that it could be iguanadon barilum.

I found it a week or so after this rock fall about 100yards from the cliff. It's got to be in there somewhere!
