Jed '06
Hi Everyone, Here's another one of those beat up Waldron Shale creek bed finds. The elongated pleural segment has me stumped. The segment is a partial but the impression left by it continues on for at least another 1.6 cm. I did quite a bit of looking today but couldn't find a Silurian trilobite that resembles it. Wondering if there is enough present for an ID? Thanks for looking! piranha
It's a dalmanitid and the large size suggests another Glyptambon verrucosus. The key features are quite evident when the pygidium is rotated to a north-south orientation. Here's a LINK to a fantastic 4 5/8" example. With your good luck I'm sure you will find a complete one soon!
Jed '06
Hi piranha, WOW, that was a quick ID! You are a wealth of knowledge for sure! These creek bed worn partials are driving me nuts on Id's, but it sure is fun! There's got to be a complete trilobite in that creek bank somewhere... Thanks (again!) for helping me out, Jed
