A Day At 't Rooth (Netherlands)

Hello,

As said in my last topic (A day at The ENCI) i would add some finds of other quarries in my area and today i visited 't Rooth. Which is also a quarry in the Netherlands of the late cretaceous time period (Maastrichtian).

Today was quite a productive day with gastropods ,shark ray and fish teeth and parts of nautilus. But the most interesting find i did after searching for about 15 min. A nice 3/4 inch Mosasaurus tooth just lying on a slope. I will post more pics of the gastropods tomorrow.

Congratulations! Those are some nice finds. That mosasaurus tooth is especially fine. I rarely see ones that pristine. What's especially striking is how similar your Upper Cretaceous finds are to what we collect in New Jersey streams. Can't wait to see your gastropods.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hello all,

As i go to this quarry weekly i wanted to post the finds after each trip. Unfortunately i didn't have the time to post anything the last few weeks as i was too busy. These are finds of the 23th of august after the trip to the ENCI I had time to go to 't Rooth. I found an awesome squalicorax with a nice color, a serratolamna and a few other teeth. Later i will post some more finds of the 30th september.

That Squali is almost perfect! I love that Mosasaurus from your earlier hunt also!

Good stuff!

Really nice finds. What is the quarry mining for?

It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.

Hello everyone,

I did some preparation work last week on the finds that i did the last couple of weeks and of this weekend. The best piece is in my opinion the one in the second pic. A beautiful bivalve if i'm correct rastellum macropterum with Echinoidea (Nucleopygus scrobiculatus) around it.

the first pics consist different bivalve (agerostrea ungulata).

More pics will follow.
