Chippewa
Well I'm going to dig into my new fossil book (fossil vertibrates of florida) to try to ID this one, but just thought I'd throw it out there and see what I learn from you all. This was found on a beach in North Florida. The thing that seems different about this one from others I've found is that it comes to a point on one end of the vert. calhounensis
Hyperostotic fish vertebra, sometimes called a swollen vertebra too. Hyperostosis is a pathology that results in a bony growth on the surface of a bone. Edit: Pg. 100 in Fossil Vertebrates of Florida talks a little bit about hyperstotic fish bones.
