Paleodad5
Could this be a Heterodontus species anterior tooth? ~6 mm x ~4mm. From Midlothian, TX pit trip.
sharko69
My guess posterior tooth, possibly S.texanus judging by nutrient groove. But I am by far no expert. I have multiple similar teeth that I have found.I have attached one such tooth.
MarcoSr
Your tooth is not a Heterodontus species. Here are some examples of Heterodontus species anterior teeth from the Miocene of Bakersfield, CA. Your tooth is a posterior tooth. It is very difficult to identify most posterior teeth to a genus/species. Marco Sr. 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
