Egg Or Not?

Hi everybody, My first post. So anyway a few years ago I found what looks to be an egg ( approx. 1.5 inches 3cm long, width less than 1 inch 1.5cm) in the South East of Poland. post-18553-0-90466800-1433360591_thumb.jpgpost-18553-0-90749500-1433360646_thumb.jpg It seems to be sticking out of some form of sandstone. I've attached some photos. I hope somebody out there can help. I have a few more fossils that I'd like to post soon. :)

The photos are too out of focus to even give a guess. A good close up of the outer layer and the age of the formation where it was found will also help.

Welcome to the forum

Thx Mike. :) Pity, rushed taking photos, going to try upload some better ones a.s.a.p. Looking up the area now to find the age. Thx again for the welcome :D.

Hi again, firstly thanks to Howard for the reply. :)post-18553-0-20514600-1433453878_thumb.jpgpost-18553-0-71202100-1433453896_thumb.jpgpost-18553-0-89000400-1433453910_thumb.jpgpost-18553-0-00515500-1433453923_thumb.jpg To my knowledge the area in Poland where I found the Fosssil used to be the Swietokrzyskie mountain range (Holy cross Mountains). The area used to be the Southeast coast of the supercontient of Lauraisa, possibly early Triassic. I hope the photos are a little better this time, but any feedback would be great. :) Just a note to Mike, was in your area about 10 yrs ago, amazing place. :) So any ideas?? Thx. :)

You can now see that Howard_I was right - it's the cup of a crinoid calyx, not a Polish fossil egg. You can now make out some plate margins in the photo at far laft. Thanks for the improved pics, interestin1 (you look like a Polish pirate in your pic).

Thx guys, :) and thx to Diceros for the conformation. :) Polish Pirate?? :o:P I'm from Ireland, been teaching English over her for about 10 yrs. Difficults to find places over here in Poland to go Fossil hunting, kinda have to really search from them. Plan on going to Germany this summer, 1 place looks great. Got some other interesting finds, hope to post soon. Cheers again.

Owen.

Owen,

We definitely need to see some better pictures - these are too blurry to see any real detail.

I took the liberty of editing the best of the photos.

I am having a hard time making out a crinoid calyx from these pictures, but I am about as far away from being a crinoid expert as I am from the moon.

Maybe some crinoid folks will weigh in. I sure hope so.

Better pictures,... Please
