digit
I'd like to thank the members of the Academy.... But seriously--I'd like to thank the members of this forum for providing such a great place to learn, be social, and share stories (long stories ). I'd especially like to thank the forum's administrators for repeatedly putting me out there on the short list for a number of months. Persistence pays off--a motto that every fossil hunter holds true. I guess this means you all have enjoyed my verbose posts--I was born with the gift of gab so I usually can't help myself. I enjoy sharing my experiences while on the hunt for something interesting that has been buried for millennia just waiting to intersect with my timeline and provide a prize that is interesting, beautiful and educational all at the same time. Now, in a radical departure from my normally effusive posts--I'm going to shutdown my laptop and join my waiting wife as we drive down to Mazon Creek for another interesting treasure hunt down in the wonderland that is Mazon Creek. More later (I promise).... Thanks again. Cheers. -Ken

digit
Thanks Dr. Mud--you had my vote this month. The "double" has been a nice early birthday present from TFF. Just got back from a scouting trip for tomorrow's outing down at Fossil Rock park where I was moving large amounts of material hunting for some Mazon Creek time-release presents. Blisters peeled, ibuprofen ingested, feet resting up on the couch and already thinking about tomorrow's hunt. The rerun of Bill Waterson's Calvin and Hobbes strip today was quite auspicious for this weekend's nodule hunting. I truly agree with the sentiment expressed: http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/2015/06/06 Cheers. -Ken

digit
Thanks. I really do appreciate the kind words. Tomorrow's b-day activities include meeting up with some other TFF members to go "shop" for some 300myo Mazon Creek presents carefully wrapped in siderite down at Fossil Rock campground and then a nice dinner with family which will feature some nice micro-brew IPA beers and a Chicago-style stuffed pizza (spinach is my favorite). I guess I like my pizza and my Pit 2 nodules BOTH stuffed with plant material (though one significantly fresher than the other). It's going to be a great weekend and my TFF friends have seen fit to make it even more memorable. Cheers. -Ken

Shellseeker
Ken, Finally get to add my congratulations. Well deserved!! I have enjoyed your descriptions of hunting and finds, plus your contributions to this forum over the years. I have been slow to comment because I have been trying to cram in every last day before the river rises. We will get together next season. Nothing like a day on the Peace to establish lasting bonds. digit
Thanks again all. I've recently been busy trying to finish off some copy editing for a new edition of a field guide for tropical Pacific fishes. With over 2000 species it has been sucking up just about every moment of my free time like a dry sponge since I returned from my last coral reef survey mission. The book goes to the printer today so I now have more free time so that I too can emulate a sponge and drink in some knowledge from this forum. I've got a few fossil hunting trips in the works over the next couple of months and several buckets of micro-matrix in my garage which will soon be joined by a bucket or two of soaking Mazon Creek nodules. I expect the forum will soon see some of my characteristically verbose postings quite soon. Thanks for making this a great fossil month for me. Cheers. -Ken
