Had some heavy rain last week, so my son and I went looking yesterday. Thought this crab was pretty neat since it is the first we've found. Any id help on the other two is greatly appreciated. I'm not sure the V shaped one more is all that old? The other one has such a thin wall I'm not convinced it is bone, but sure looks and feels like bone.

Thanks John! It's hard to do the details justice in pictures. Certainly one of the coolest finds I've had. Now I have to figure out how to preserve it. I'm thinking Butvar-79?

Additional sharp photos wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings around here. :D

As to "how to preserve it", it would obviously depend on how stable it is, now.

It is pretty stable John. I'm thinking it just needs a light thin coating for longer term preservation? Here is one additional phot, I'll work on getting more. Think I'll have to pull out the tripod to get the focus just right on the under side.

I really like that little crab, very nice : )

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

Very nice photo. Looking forward to the ventral side, too. :)

Still not thrilled with the focus, depth of field, and lighting...but here are some of the belly of the beast.
