FossilDAWG Posted July 16, 2015 Share Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) These trilobites are unlikely to be fake. The species is Flexicalymene ouzregui; here is a link to a discussion of the species. They are very common Moroccan trilobites, too inexpensive to be worth faking. The preservation of your specimens is fairly typical. Eocenecarnage Posted August 20, 2015 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Trilobites like that are typically Flexicalymene ouzregui or Diacalymene ouzregui. They come from the Ordovician age Ktaoua Formation in the Sahara Desert in Morocco near the town of Tazoulait. This formation is the same one that yielded the recent discovery of the anomalocarid, Aegirrocaris. These trilobites are found naturally and are very rarely faked. It the the Devonian ones from the Hamar Laghad Formation you have to worry about, especially Dicranurus which are frequently cast from resin. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
