Fossildude19
Looks like a bryozoan preserved in chert, to me. Others may have a better idea of what it is. howard_l
Depending on the age, if it is Cenozoic, palm wood? Howard_L http://triloman.wix.com/kentucky-fossils

kerryrocksnla
Those are really pretty. I have a piece of petrified wood I found and when I went to pick it up it broke right down the middle just as pretty as you please. Im pretty sure its Palmwood. The only thing is this piece of wood is like glass to me. If you put the two halves together or bump them together it sounds like China. Where the "straws" are in palmwood this piece has small crystals filling it up. I think its a really nice piece though. Central Louisiana Rock/Fossil Hunter! howard_l
Well agate is quartz and where do we get glass, quartz. See if it scratches glass then it has been agatized. If it is that may account for the sound when hit together. Howard_L http://triloman.wix.com/kentucky-fossils
