Hi All,

I was helping to clear out my Aunts house and I found a parcel from a fossil shop. However, there is no invoice inside and nothing is labelled so would really appreciate some help identifying these so I can label them up and give them to my daughter who is fossil/ dino mad at the moment.

You shark/mosasaur tooth is from an Otodus shark. Your "Death Star" kind of looks like a Gastropod. You got the Orthoceras right. I don't know about the tube worm? One or the last one.

That's great - thanks! I think she'll love the tooth even more now that it comes from a shark. Bit disappointed about the worm but I'll maybe not mention that it's modern and leave her imagination to fill in the gaps!

Tube worms are cute. Perhaps showing her pictures like this could get her interested: http://uwexplorers.net/pacific-northwest-marine-life/worms-segmented-worms-ribbon-worms-flatworms/

Christmas tree tube worms are especially beautiful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirobranchus_giganteus

All the specimens above looks to be Moroccan fossils.

I guess the "Death Star" could be also a Lobolith, the bulbous floating organ of a crinoid like Scyphocrinites, with the possible attachment to the stem and a part of the internal structure visible in picture #2/3. post-17588-0-04463900-1449856484_thumb.jpg

Sorry for bumping but just wanted to say thanks for all the help. My little one actually loved the worm stuff but wasn't so keen on the loboliths! Think I'll try a swap these for something that looks more like a creepy crawly ;) Merry Christmas!
