Helderberg Group Trilobite Cephalon

These two heads protruding through the bottom of a thin "chert" bed from the Kalkberg Formation near Port Jervis NY.

Paciphacops logani Hall is found in the Kalkberg and New Scotland Formations. Two views of the one in the lower left, 3/4".

Believe they (parts) are common, such as at Becraft Mt., however these are the first found here (besides a few doubtful pygidium fragments).

Interesting matrix; the orientation of the fossils seems fairly random.

That Kalkberg Formation is something else. Trilobites I believe are uncommon, but not rare in the Kalkberg, at least that's been my experience.
