ang123
Hi I am new to forums so I hope Im doing this right. I live in Ypsilanti Mi. I was getti g some soil from the woods behind my house for some garden beds. I found this about a foot down. I looked up some pictures and it looks like fossilized coral to me, but I dont know much about fossils. Could anyone tell me what it is and maybe how old it could be? Any info would be awesome! Thank you! Edited April 18, 2016 by ang123

Vieira
I can´t see if it is fossil or atual.
Peat Burns
I can´t see if it is fossil or atual. It does have a "modern" scleractinian look to it. Perhaps it was a recent coral in someone's rock garden that got incorporated into the soil.
Auspex
It does have a "modern" scleractinian look to it. Perhaps it was a recent coral in someone's rock garden that got incorporated into the soil. Or was discarded from an aquarium. ang123
Well No one really has access to the woods so if it was from an aquarium it would have been from a very long time ago. And like I said it was at least afoot down. Either way it was cool to find,my kids loved it and want to dig for more

Peat Burns
Whether fossil or not, it is most likely not of Michigan origin.
