Shark Tooth?

I found this on the beach in Los Angeles, CA. I'm not versed enough to say if it's actually a fossil. If it's just a stone it sure looks a lot like a tooth. Can anyone help me id this, please? I have more images I can upload too. Thank you.

Thank you for the quick reply, Troodon. I'm amazed at how this stone has all the curves and indentations of a fang.

Yes, it is a suggestively shaped piece of (probably) basalt.

If you really want to find some shark teeth, a good site to look at would be Sharktooth hill. It's about 2 hours north of Los Angeles.

Shark teeth will have a shiny enamel surface just like human teeth. Minerals will stain fossil teeth various colors.
