a Washington crab

That thing looks AWSOME. I really want to get a crab like that and prep it myself. I have a few Questions for you how do you know from the first pics top/bottom and front/back. I would love to dig/find one but have no clue about them, you put me in a creek and I can find tons. anyways it looks cool can't wait to see it finished

So if you look at the pic it has a front that is not as pointy as the back and when looking at the side of it the top will be the one with less matrix if you were to draw a centerline on the concretion. This is how you can tell the orientation when looking at a good con. The rounder the con the harder to orient it thus the not easy ones I hope this helps explain how to tell

There are some fossil crabs in Florida but I haven't ever heard of any in concreations tho.

Yeah I have found parts of claws and other bits and pieces. I would love to get ahold of one in concreations. can't wait to see it.

Very pleasing to the eye. Would that have been the crabs natural color.

I don't believe it was because they can come in a aray of colors but who knows maybe. I have seen that the ones that are darker in color can be easier to work with but it's due to it be better preserved.
