Fossil passion
Hi I am a fossil collector ,may I ask if this is a real fossil trilobite and what species is this.I bought it for $50 Edited May 29, 2016 by Fossil passion
LordTrilobite
It looks like it could be real. But those photos are too blurry to know for sure. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Fossil passion
Here's another photo , do click the image to have a clearer picture. I notice some dots on a spot Edited June 3, 2016 by Fossil passion
Fossildude19
I think this one may be real, but very poorly prepared. You could try to heat up a needle, then see if it can pierce the trilobite. If it is made of resin, the needle should stick in to it - if not- it's real. haventbaptized
I am not an expert but is it maybe a poorly prepared trilobite of the family Phacopidae?
Bguild
I'm thinking you have a Phacops trilobite in rough shape. Looks real though. Edited June 3, 2016 by Bguild

Guguita2104
I agree with real, but poorly prepped/restored phacopid. The photos are a bit blurry, but I think I see at least one or two air bubbles (but I'm not sure).
prem
With the number of well-prepared trilobites coming out of Morocco, and showing up on Our Favorite Auction Site, as well as elsewhere on-line, I think you could find a better looking specimen when you decide to spend your next $50.---Prem
jhw
I agree. Fairly common species, poorly prepped. Size could be a factor, I guess, but much better looking examples are always available on ebay in that price range.
Ridgehiker
There's no reason to fake a common found phacops from Morocco. Not to rub salt on the wound but that is just 'badly' done and overpriced. Hopefully you have full info in it...species, formation , locale, etc. or it is just a not-so-pretty ornament. Anyways, welcome to the site. There are lots of great fossils to collect. Always best to post on a site like this 'before' making a purchase. It's not just about money but keeping standards up.
