gordywilliams
I had did some research trying to find places local to go to and found this info: http://treasuresites.com/Members/fossil.htm and here is my local info from 1999: CAMP CREEK/SANDY CREEK -- (N30° 49.54¢ W86° 04.41) is a Miocene age site, where shark's teeth, camel, three-toed horse, alligator, and turtle fossils can readily be found by wading the streams or snorkeling the deeper stretches. The site is accessed in Walton County (N. Florida), where CR 183B crosses Sandy Creek. Camp Creek is just West of the Sandy Creek crossing. Padgett Road, North of the CR 183B crossing on the East Side of 183B, also crosses Sandy Creek in two places. If you go S. on CR183B and turn right on CR 183A, you will cross a small section of Camp Creek. A wade or hike upstream will lead to deeper water. I have gone to the only access, 183b , three different times and the site is no longer productive. I even walked 1/3 of a mile up the creek with no luck. I guess it time to hit some of the local "shell" sites.
Fossildude19
And that, ... ladies and gentlemen, ... is why you shouldn't post fossil sites online. It may take years for the site to be rejuvenated. Another reason to do some research, and try to find sites of your own. gordywilliams
Although it's called Sandy Creek, I think that somewhere up the creek massive topsoil erosion had occurred because while wading up it I would step off in some sandy spots and go most up to my groin.
