Pool Man
Hi, This is another North Port FL creek find. I'd say definatly a femur, But cant find any pics on the web that are close. It seems mostly fossilized, but a match test gave a slight hint of burning hair(could have been from my finger though ) Thanks, Dan

Harry Pristis
Hi, This is another North Port FL creek find. I'd say definatly a femur, But cant find any pics on the web that are close. It seems mostly fossilized, but a match test gave a slight hint of burning hair(could have been from my finger though )Thanks, Dan This is one of those IDs that is hard to be confident of using only images. After looking at the conformation, I think this is a raccoon femur. Could it be a cat, yes. It more resembles a raccoon than a cat to my eye using your images. -----Harry Pristis 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

Pool Man
Thanks guys, I'll go with Racoon, seems about right from what I can find online. I call these kind of finds"brown bones". It still gives that feeling of finding something different even if it isn't totaly fossilized.
