Hi!

Found this one last week in the Makhtesh Hagadol (Israel).

The formation is called Matmor and is supposed to be Jurassic. Mostly limestone/chalk and it was partially still in the rock.

Any ideas about this fossil?

Although similar to the shape of an irregular echinoid, I agree your find appears to be a bivalve steinkern.

I'll fourth that on bivalve internal molds. Like Bob Will says, it would be difficult to identify the species, since no sculptural elements from the shell are visible. You can only go by the form, and there may be a number of genuses which apply. You'll first have to research the stratigraphy as closely as you can to determine what the choice of bivalve fauna might be.
