Hi, yesterday i was in a quarry of gravels and ochre sand. I need help to identify to which animal they are (if this is possible).

The marine vertebrates described in that quarry are : Odontaspis cuspidata, Carcharodon megalodon, Mesocetus aquitanus (or mesocetus), Champsodelphis macrogenius and squalodon.

The other species that can be found in that department are :

* from the Serravallian : Cosmopolitodus hastalis, aetobatus arcuatus ;

* from the previous period, the Burdigalian : Pristiss aquitanicus, Hemipristis serra, Ginglymostome delfortriei, Myliobatis (myliobatis ; funiculatus ; leognasensis ; dimorphus ; microrhizus), Megaselachus megalodon, Notorynchus primigensis.

1) Concerning this first one, i am not sure this is a tooth.

I do not see a toth in first set. Looks like a shark tooth in the second group of pictures.

I thank you both for your answers. I know it is hard to ID those tooth. I tried to look on the net photos of the teeth sharks on the list i give at the beginning of that thread, but it's hard for a non-initiate to make the difference between a shark and another. All i know is that i don't have teeth of a cetacean, nor of a Megalodon.:)
