aplomado
I am checking for a friend... these were found in a river in Alabama. Is this anything you all can identify? I have no idea if it even a fossil but looks suggestive.
Darktooth
It sort of looks like a very water worn horn coral but I have never seen one with a hollow inside. Lets see what others think. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
FossilDAWG
I don't think it's a body fossil. Possibly it is a piece of a burrow (ichnofossil), more likely just a weathered piece of a concretion or a fulgorite (fused rock formed from lightning striking the ground). tmaier
Yeah, hollow makes no sense for a rugose coral. Also, the shape of the exterior doesn't look very rugose. Almost could be a vase sponge, but there isn't an attachment point at the base. I'm stumped.
Dominic's Mom
My son is the one who found this, what should we do next with this and other fossils and items he has found and continue to find?

Label tem as best You can and put them in a nice display case. Enjoy them. Tony Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
