Bartos Fam
I'm hoping someone can help me identify this fossil from Mulbring Quarry in NSW, Australia. It is some form of mid Permian (250 Ma) sea creature, or a piece thereof. My guesses are that it might be a complex bivalve hinge, or a vertebrae. it is about 6cm wide and 3cm high, and appears to be composed of several parts. Can anyone with a more vivid imagination or knowledge of Permian marine life shed some light on it ?
Fossildude19
Hello, It is an internal mold of a brachiopod, (possibly a spiriferid) ... covered with a fenestella- type bryozoan. I also see a cephalopod or crinoid stem imprint, ... more fenestella bryozoan, and a possible pelecypod (clam) imprint. Cool finds. Bartos Fam
Many thanks Fossildude, the bryzoan overlay and internal molding had me more stumped than usual.

I had considered that, but, the apparent sulcus and fold put me more in mind of a spiriferid.
